As of this writing, the two students (1 male & 1 female) we hope to provide full scholarship in the "Night High School" program have yet to be chosen.
According to Eva, about 50 kids initially applied for the program but only 10 passed the required entrance exam. Of the 10, 4 have so far been officially enrolled.
SDA continue to accept applicants and are confident that by the start of the school year 2010-11, they have at least 30 new freshmen students, 2 of which will be our full scholar.
Meanwhile, please continue to support our effort to help those underprivileged kids. We are still short of our estimated initial allocated funds. Ideally, I would want the first 2 school years fully funded.
Your pledges are very important so please fulfill them as soon as possible. In our small way, we hope to make a difference in their lives.

nag start na today ang classe sa SDA. I ask the help of Vic na sya na pumunta sa school to get the profile of our prospect- Bisitahin na lang namin siguro sa address nila para at least malaman din namin kung sino ang karapat dapat. As per Claire Melebo- may mga nag eenrol pa- siguro after this week they could complete the needed 30 students para makabuo ng isang classe.
malabo ang procedure nyo. kung pumapasok na ang mga batang yan, ang ibig sabihin ay sponsored na sila ng night high. kahit di nyo sila sponsoran ay makakatapos sila.sayang lang ang inyong pera. tama ba ako o mali. nawala kayo sa sistema. pasukan na, wala parin resulta.magisip isip kayo. ideya lang po. salamat.

I'am the mother of 1 of the regular students in St. Dominic last June 4, may parents orientation regarding the rules and regulation of the school and they also tackle the Night high need pa rin po nila ang sponsor kahit pa sabihing nag start na ang Class. They also told na nakapagpa graduate na sila ng 23 student out of 45 so i think kaya di nakatapos yung iba kasi wala pamasahe. Maganda yung purpose nyo kaya ituloy nyo po.

Salamat sa input mo pero pinag-isipan naming mabuti ‘to kaya hindi masasayang ang pera ng sino mang tumutulong. Nag-research kami kung bakit may mga Nigh High students na hindi nakakatapos given that all they have to do is show up to class and study hard.
Katulad na rin ng sinabi ng huling Anonymous, the main reason is ka-kulangan ng pamasahe ng estudyante na hindi na sakop ng Night High Program.
Kung babasahin mong mabuti ang Scholarship Guidelines you will see clearly how are we going to allocate the funds. More than half of it will cover the costs of transportation.

Pero don’t worry, although we cannot guarantee that our scholars will be able to finish their school, our concern is only to make sure we are doing something to help them achieve their goals. It’s up to them if they want to take advantage of the opportunity we are offering...or waste it!
The important thing is we are doing our part, hoping the scholars do theirs.

we just all need to think positive and be more pro-active about it. We really got nothing to lose...a small amount maybe, to make a big difference? We can live with that, with a smile in our heart. :-)

I went to SDA last Saturday (Jun 12) Nandun si Sis Trining- he he congratulate nyo sya kasi ng 50th na siya as Dominican Sister!!! Wala man lang daw nag madre sa batch natin!!! Dun na uli ang assignment nya- pero I forgot kung ano- something that concern the students (siempre). And of course sabi nya sana daw tumulong naman tayo sa mga students na gustong mag aral pero walang means- which i told her na kaya nga ako nandun! Siempre masaya sya! as of that saturday- 28 ang enrollees sa night high at me mag eenrol pa daw. Violy promised to email us the profiles ng mga enrollees so we could pick from there- kaya lang we have to wait until she have it. Lets wait till then- alam nyo ba na tinangap nila ang mga enrollees kahit walang P62.50 tuition na ibinayad? Sabi ko sa scholar natin sagot natin yan ang Claire started computing sa kanyang calculator-
