“Night” or “Day”

To give you a better understanding of what providing FULL scholarship to a potential high school student entails, click the image below to see a full view comparison table of how much the estimated cost will be between the "night" school program and the regular "day" school.

Figures noted with * symbol means the information came directly from SDA Administration while figures noted with *** symbol means it’s only an approximation of the cost. With these estimated annual figures in mind (which I think is not too far from the actual, notwithstanding the inflation and all that jazz)...,

...do you think we are capable of pulling this off until the student graduate from High School?

This is a four or five-year commitment from all of us, depending on which option we choose. We haven’t really discussed about the idea of continuing it thru college but it’s something to keep in mind if we want the scholar(s) to pursue under the same sponsorships...ours.

Now, if we push through with this scholarship plan, I propose an initial funding (covering at least the first 2 years of school) already deposited into our bank account prior to the start of the intended school year. In other words, if we go the “night” route, I propose at least Php70K per student readily available by early next year. Similarly, if we choose to do the “day” route, Php120K is the minimum initial funding allocation per student.

What do you think?

We are looking to get this proposed scholarship program implemented starting next school year (2010-11). However, without your approval and of course financial support, this project is not going to materialize.

….and so I beg you...literally and figuratively! :-)

It is very important that we hear from you and share your cash, dinero, moolah, etc...oh yeah! I’m sure you’ve got comments, thoughts, ideas, questions too... whatever. :-) Post them here, even anonymously if you are shy about it. Just make sure you stick with the topic at hand and keeping it clean… or I’ll hunt you down with a vengeance. hehehe

Seriously, you may have some issues or even grievances or complaints...or you’re not happy about any aspects of our association. Don’t just keep it to yourself or to your few close selected classmates hoping they’ll sympathize with you and it gets resolve by itself. We can talk about all that with an open mind. Email me if you prefer...please Luis?

Thanks and hope to hear from all of you...soon!

Side Note: For this school year 2009-10, we have already committed Php5K to SDA for school uniforms to incoming new students of the Night School program. (as agreed during our last meeting in April 2009)

now we have good picture of what we are really going to deal with and seems bigger than what was initially told. we have to be prepared otherwise, malalagay lang sa alanganin ang (mga) bata. it's useless if we're just going to send them the tuition fees without the extra support for the miscellaneous expenses. mahirap din pumasok if none of those things. i support the decision to postpone it next school year.

bakit po ganon, ang laki naman yata. if you will check it @ ABC foundation site for night high school, it's stated that...
"It will cost P 3,000.00 to sponsor one(1) night high scholar for one(1) year. This covers their uniforms, books, tuition fees & misc. expenses such as field trips and laboratory fees.
paki paliwanag naman po.

mr anonymous, i saw it and you are right. that is why i disagree w/ the uniforms. it's true that we don't have experience running scholarship. why not just commit ourselves to abc @ P3,000/student so we can support more student. say 5 or 10 students instead of 1 student for P35,000.

and how about the fund. how can we start our project if we don't know the capital. i will suggest webmaster na mag email ka sa lahat ng classmates natin and ask them how much are they going to contribute per year for the next 5 years or whatever so that we will be able to know our CAPITAL. from there we'll be able to know how many students will be supported by batch '78.

Thanks for asking. I know maraming magugulat sa amount kaya naman dapat talagang pag-usapan before committing ourselves. Please check my recent post titled "Result of April 18th Meeting". Na-explained ko na yung tanong mo dun. Please click here to go to that posting. Thanks!

To hot spa:

Glad you're asking! Napag-usapan na rin namin sa meeting about that. Mas madali sana kung ganun na lang gawin natin. Ibibigay na lang natin sa ABC Foundation ang pera at sila na ang bahala. Ang kaso naman dun, kahit hindi tayo magbigay sa ABC, sagot pa rin nila ang 3000 per student no matter how many students are there in the night school program. So, it doesn't make sense to give money to ABC when even if we don't give, they can still fund all students.

Napag-usapan namin mas maganda sana na if we can afford it, we provide full scholarship sa student instead na magdaan sa ABC. Kaya naman nag-post ako para malaman nyong lahat what will it take to do it. Kaya nagtatanong ako sa inyo at sumasagot kayo.

Also, I don't know kung nag-attend ka sa meeting pero yung uniforms na contribution for this year ay syang napagkasunduan kasi nga hindi pa tayo handa sa scholarship plan. I have written in recent postings, uniforms is waht the SDA's immediate needs right now.

That's really great we all hear from all of you. Thanks y'all!

Dear anonymous,

yes it's true ABC Foundation website stated that: "It will cost P 3,000.00 to sponsor one(1) night high scholar for one(1) year. This covers their uniforms, books, tuition fees & misc. expenses. As I understand it, that statement is kinda misleading actually because some of the funds to cover sponsorship in its entirety comes from other sources, not just from the 3000 peso donation they provide to each student.

There is no way you can send a high school student for just 3000 pesos. The school subsidize the rest of the expenses.

Deat Hot Spa:

Thanks for the suggestion to email all and ask for their pledges. I will definitely do that very soon!

cheers!

To Ka Rene:

That's the point of this posting. Para maintindihan nating lahat na we have to be prepared if we decided to do it.

The decision to postpone until next year allow us give more thoughts to it and careful planning.

Thanks for all your input!

oo nga naman! kung 3000 pesos lang kailangan to go to HS, napaka-mura nyan! buti na lang may ibang nagbibigay ng suporta sa mga students at sa SDA.

now I understand! salamat webmaster sa iyong explanation. Kailangan talaga magtulong-tulong tayo. Kaya natin yan!

mas malinaw ang ganyan. i like that. pag may tanong may sagot. thanks, mr. webmaster! you are doing a great job!
