Promises promises

The result of March 15th meeting is as follows:

1. Support of the scholarsip program and programs of the SDA General Alumni Association. We all know about the scholarship program (Night School). But what is SDA General Alumni Association? hmmmm...

2. Encourage other batchmates to attend and participate in our monthly meetings/thanksgiving. Suggestion: Networking - active member MUST contact at least 5 inactive members.

3. Active members who attended this meeting showed their commitment to the group by affixing their signatures on a sheet of paper.
4. Suggest creative ways to raise funds. Suggestion: minimum of Php365/year on a 1peso/day saving idea. Less agua pataranta!

5. Promises were made, and hopefully not to be broken. Promises: a. A promise to lessen his/her drinking habit so he/she could give shares.
b. A promise to double his/her share on next meetings now that they are aware of the unwritten "rule" to make the minimal contribution.
c. A promise to bring new recruits on every meeting.

Unfortunately, the "by-laws" was never discussed. Perhaps, current attendees realized they don't have time to...or they just don't want to...or they just don't see the need to.

We will try again next time to find out if the majority think it is not worth spending time discussing the "by-laws" and I'll drop my case for it.

As simple as that!

Special Note: Collected cash total of P3,960.00 for the day - from wena's "sale" of a bottle of black label scotch, plus change from binawas sa pambili ng agua pataranta, plus local attendees voluntary contribution (aka 50/50), plus the 40% of the 6K sent by Noel A.

Food and drinks provided by Wena C (thru Noel A's contribution) plus more from attendees who brought along everything from mangoes, coffee, peanuts etc.

I don't have yet the full financial report as I am waiting from our pro tempore Treasurer Wena C to send it to me. But until then, please keep us in your thoughts when you stop by Starbucks. Your order of "Decaf Double tall non-fat extra-dry cappuccino" can go a long way to some underpriveleged kids out there. :-)

Take note of our scheduled next meeting/thanksgiving:
Saturday Apr 18, 2009 - 3:00PM to dinner at Bart Nicolas' place.

See you there!

i still think that we need to elect
a set of officers to represent us,as a group.we also need to have our by-laws in place so we can use it as a guide.
we will need a president
a vice-pres. for special projects
e.g. night school
a vice-pres. for recruitment and
membership
a vice-pres. for finance to oversee
our funds.responsible
for creating funds e.g
thru raffles,bake sale
garage sale,solicita-
tions.pabingo, pasa-
bong atbp.
a secretary
a treasurer to oversee collection &
will coordinate with
finance.

maraming offiers para naka spread-
out ang trabaho.alalahanin natin
na this is purely volounteer work.
mauuna siyempre pa yung mga pamil-
ya nila,yung trabaho onegosyo kaya.
and again letus thank them in ad-
vance dahil hindi sila babayaran
sa mga sakripisyong gagawin nila.
we also need to understand that we
making a commitment here, walang
atrasan kapag naumpisahan na. thats
why,everybody's participation is
crucial for our success.

and lastly the night school ....
i'm all for it, BUT...let us ansuer
some questions first. 1) are we fi-
nancialy ready to send students to
school.i was reading P15,000 by
june 2009.this is for five years,
and to tell you the truth there is no guarantee that the tuition wont
go up in the next five years.to be
able for the student to succed,hin-
di sa tuition lang dapat matapos ang responsibilidad nating lahat,
this would cost money also. ayoko
na sumabay tayo sa ibang batch na
handa na. maaaring matagal na nilang sinimulan ang project na ito
tru meetings at may pondo na sila.
i dont care if we need to wait for
another year as long as we have es-
tablished our group,we have our by-
laws in place and have enough funds
to support our students.

WE NEED A PLAN B

kumusta sa lahat. dom
