I’ve been getting quite a few questions about the SDA General Alumni Association, an association whose members are former Saint Dominic Academy Alumni, of course! ;-)
Earlier in my post, I quipped I know nothing about it. Pardon my ignorance but I only heard of this association just recently. I used the power of my fingers and googled it hoping I could find some virtual information but found nothing.
Apparently from what I heard, this “Association” has been around for quite sometime now but for some strange reasons has not been well-known in the community…(or at least in my world and in a few other’s)..., more so its leaders and how it was formed and how are they functioning.
The reason it has become an interest to some is because of its involvement, for lack of a better word, in organizing an alumni effort to bring local underprivileged kids to school thru the night high school scholarship program, spearheaded by A Better Chance Foundation.
Here are few questions I received so far that maybe some of you have the answer:
1. Do they have elected officers?
2. How were they elected?
3. Who are the current officers?
4. Is this association registered thru Security & Exchange Commissions (SEC)?
5. Do they have regular scheduled meetings a member can attend?
6. What is their relevance to our community?
I honestly don’t know the answers to the above questions, though I have some basic idea. But I’m interested to know more, as much as some of you want to know. Please enlighten us.

i don't know much about it too. only thing i know is
1. yes they have elected officers but sadly the brain of this grand alumni, atty. freddie alto, the elected prex is long gone.

3. an acting prex is visibly nearby and it happen to be wena's grandmother, ma'am digna

we are not informed of what was going on. the only we know is we have a bank account that according to our info is in the hand of the current principal of SDA. WHY? that is the BIG Q. and the signatories are the late atty. freddie alto and mrs. h. espinosa. when the former died, mrs. espinosa had the bankbook in her safe but turned it over to sis. wilma when she retires.
that's all i know.

this inquiry of yours egay as well as the response of this obvious we know who anonymous is in the proper forum , whatever your agenda on this matter is , allow me to clarify some misgivings written by that anonymous obvious , maam digna rueda is the daughter of mrs rueda , a former teacher in central elementery school , secondly , she was personally approach by atty. alto to head the alumni assoc , oversee its annual event , because she is capable of being its president , a leader & doer , that is why this yearly event continues because of her tireless effort to reach out to other batches , irregardless of your insistence of why its havent been registered , i tell you this , egay , anonymous , 30 years ago , during our 25th jubillee , i personally raised that idea , even the yearly contributions , dra. mimi basgoncillo , R.I.P., our celebration president then , from batch 68 , atty.freddie,R.I.P., then alumni prexy, gladly accepted & commended the idea, cause they have been looking for so long a batch that would start it & support it , in atty.alto's joy he gave me a statue of st. dominic , as recognition , i categorically said , if its only for me , i cannot accept, but if it is for the recognition of the whole batch 78 , then humbly & gladly , we , we will accept it . but it has a responsibility with it , to make sure that we give support & pour in our effort to help the general alumni exist & improves towards it goal.besides maam digna is person of her own good character, she is a leader , konting respeto naman , hindi rude ang mga 78ers. being wena's GODMOTHER has nothing to do regading issues of the technicalities you have been so persistent about. i hope you're not insunuating on this because wena did a very good job in handling the funds during the 2008 reunion at SDA, and the fact that wena in her generosity offered a four year funding for the night school program ,a dare was given to you egay & pareng noel , up to now i dont know if you had responded to the challenge of the lady , she did it because in her own judgement , she believes in the goodness of the project ,no one can tell her what to do or decide , but she is responding , can you without tackling the hassles of your so called querries & other inuendos, spare wena from your intruiges , appreciate her for being always there , not only for her capability of giving , but more so as a caring friend,as she welcome us to her home , she deserves to respected & treated fairly. i am the one who beg & convice her to be the temporary treasurer , it was her decision to accept , we should be in gratitude for that , and she did very well.walang naging problems. do not insinuate , and do not play around hiding making fuzz hiding the cloak of aninomity. hindi kami mga bobo. rememeber the saying , a little knowledge is dangerous ,egay , anyone of you, who wants to know factual detais regarding the general alumni , CONTACT MRS. ESPINOSA , she had been with it fron the start , she is the official representative of SDA admin, then, as co treasurer, no one in batch 78 can answer all your questions on this matter.lastly , the general alumni assoc is in a bit unstable , precarious status right now , it was the able leadership & dedication of maam digna that holds it , we should support it , help it stays whole & united , hindi tayo maging dahilan upang pagdudahan ang existence & leadership nito , this is our ship , can you help , do you care?

i can't say anything but only heard of that wena's grandmother as acting president. acting, which means not yet confirmed and on temporary basis. other than that, i know nothing. anonymous could have provided some answers.
if we think about it, we're on the some shoes. if somebody asked about our group we can not say anything except that:
1. we're meeting at least once a month to see how each other is doing;
2. we have variable number of members, depending on who will attend the gathering;
3. we can help in any project with the participation and cooperation of only few;
4. we have no set of officers to represent us;
5. we have no set of rules to follow;
6. we're not registered in any gov't entity to guaranty our legitimacy;
what else can i say....huh!
this post is not meant to question the integrity of any individual. i have no hidden agenda here the fact that i don't even know who the acting prez is. it is simply asking general questions from a "considered" member of the association.
now, like i always said, i cannot control what others feeling about anything, i can only control mine.

this forum is for sharing of opinions, suggestions, questions etc. although meant for Batch 78 members only, kung meron man na sumisingit, i have no problem with that. they are just sharing their opinions and whatever knowledge they have of the topic at hand. whatever comments they have, i'll try to look at it mostly in a positive way. I will use it to my advantage, if possible.

Hello Batch '78 hope ok lang kayo lahat saan man kayo naroroon. I know minsan nagkakaroon ng misunderstandings sa mga comments dito and I understand why.
Ang masasabi ko lang talaga yatang ganyan pag may maganda kang hangarin laging may gulong dumadating. Pero di tayo dapat padala sa mga bagay na ito. Naniniwala ako na maaayos din ang lahat.
Pag nagbabasa ako ng blog natin, sinisikap ko na unawain ang bawat comments at sumagot kung may masasabi ako na maaaring makatulong. Pag may hindi ako nagustuhan, di ko na lang pinapansin.
Kahit na ano pa man ang madinig natin ang isipin na lang natin ay kung papaano maitataguyod ang magandang plano para sa mga batang nangangailangan.
After all kahit na ano pa man ang gawin natin whether good or not lagi naman may madidinig. Pag medyo sensitibo ang issue, siguro sa email na lang natin padaanin para maiwasan ang ibang misunderstandings.

I admire you Mr Joey for not hiding your name while telling the truth, that means you have your 2 balls down there with you, as a matter of fact i decided not to read or open our blog anymore like you because im realy tired in reading by laws issues. I said if ever i will give donation or if ever i will support that great plan of batch 78 to support students i can not afford to give millions so i dont need that by laws, maybe anonymous is planning to donate millions that why he is after the by laws or he dont trust our present treasurer or maybe it is his tactic to divert the issue ofr him not to pledge.

I don’t even know where all the hostilities are coming from but I am willing to tolerate all of you just because, as your self-proclaimed webmaster and messenger, I cannot exercise bias and start deleting comments when I feel like it. Whether you post comments anonymously or not, it doesn’t matter to me. What matters is whether your comments have any validity at all or not. It’s anyone’s interpretation.
I have no idea why this post creates a tremendous uproar when all was written were some legitimate questions any ordinary member of any association should know. We, Batch 78, are all members of the SDA General Alumni Association so we should all know the answer, but unfortunately I am one of those who are so just so out-of-touch that I start asking innocent questions too.
These are just basic questions for crying out loud. But like some, I myself don’t know the answer to those questions because if I do, you’ll be seeing a different post. I have no hidden agenda whatsoever by posting those questions, just want to know basic information just like everybody else. I thought this is the best forum to discuss that since we are all coming from different parts of the world and only in this virtual place you can possibly put most members in one room. The Association is no secret society that we have to go to a dungeon and whisper to each other just to know the answers. Now, that’s funny!
If only everyone will stick with the topic at hand, reply if you wish with an educated opinion and not let your emotions control you, this website that I patiently maintain for all of us will remain a good source of information. Now, if it is anyone’s personal vendetta to shoot the messenger (aka the webmaster), so be it. All I know I have not done anything to warrant all this anger. Heck, I am not even sure who some of the commenter are referring to so I am not going to start guessing. It will only be futile.

I actually begun to question the very existence of this website whether it is helping or not to bring together unity in the batch. Like what Ka Rene said, we cannot really please everybody.
I may have been attacked personally but rest assured I can take the beating anytime. What I cannot accept is that this website becomes the root of animosity between individuals. That is not my goal when I first started this website almost 4 years ago.
